About ABH Foundation
Established in September 2000, A Better Hand Foundation, Inc. (ABH) has consistently provided youth with the necessary skills to pursue better opportunities and make wiser choices. By providing them with necessary life skills, youth have demonstrated increased capacity as evidenced by academic improvement and decreases in negative behavior.
ABH was formed to positively impact the lives of youth engaging in criminal and/or risky behavior. These behaviors include but are not limited to low academic achievement, juvenile delinquency, drug/alcohol abuse, parenting teens, abused girls and gang activity. ABH’s research has shown that most youth who are involved in these types of behaviors do not currently have a positive role model in their lives. By providing them with that role model and encouraging accountability and responsibility, ABH has positively impacted the lives of the at-risk youth it serves.
This year ABH is introducing its juvenile court intervention program – a positive alternative to probation. This program will serve twenty youthful offenders ages 9-18 currently involved in an athletic program. The purpose of this program is to provide a viable alternative to further juvenile court involvement.
